school. on her way to school. kron 4's reggie kumar is live in redwood city and has more on how people are dealing with this tragedy. >> reporter: residents are devastated about what happened at this interception this morning. you can see the memorial continues to grow. meanwhile investigators still trying to figure out why the truck driver hit the 9th grader. >> reporter: redwood city investigators say the girl was on her bike and wearing a helmet while heading eastbound on jefferson avenue. investigators say a truck was making a right turn at the same time and hit the girl. the markings on the street indicate where the accident happened. investigators say the victim was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. the girl was a freshman in high school. he stopped by to remember the victim. >> i heard that girl from my

girl got hit. i don't think i know her but then when i saw the pictures i realized it is this person and i felt very bad and i couldn't believe it happened to someone i knew. she was a smart person. spoke three languages fluently. she was shy. but she was a very nice person. >> reporter: administrators say they are saddened and prepared to help students cope with the tragedy. >> reporter: group counselors will be on campus tomorrow. investigators say the driver was not arrested and don't believe he was intoxicated and cooperating with the investigation. reggie kumar, kron 4 news. an update on bryan stow, severely beaten in 2011. san francisco general hospital

is seeking more than $1.2 million from the los angeles dodgers. he was treated in 2011. the family is also suing the team in connection with the attack which happened in the parking lot outside dodger stadium in los angeles. he is recovering and still requires extensive medical treatment. attorneys for the family estimate life time care could cost $50 million. he recently underwent surgery and will need more surgeries. heavy fog causing problems in the bay area this morning and now big storms are just around the corner. this is video from san francisco international airport. people dealt with flight delays up to four hours. >> we looked at the boards and

we had two hours delays. we expected our flight would be on time. >> many travelers thought the day would provide them with a break, however because of the weather the airport had 40 cancellations and 13 diverted flights. kron 4's dan kerman had to deal with delays today. >> reporter: i got caught up in the same delays. when i arrived the monitors indicated my flight was on time but i knew that wasn't true. the monitors finally caught up. i walked down to see if flights were delayed and they were. i checked in at the desk and said is 12 noon the right time, they said that is when we will

be checking in. basically i found the monitors were wrong most of the day and the only way to get accurate information was to speak with someone behind the desk. we arrived here at 2:30 p.m., 2- 1/2 hours after the scheduled arrival time. at sfo dan kerman, kron 4 news. >> the fog is expected to return tonight and rain. here is a live look at the golden gate bridge on the right side of the green. the bay bridge, no problems there. jacqueline bennett is tracking the fog and the rain and will tell us what is ahead. >> the fog is returning. we are seeing areas of fog through the north bay. half mile visibility in napa. 2 miles in santa rosa. down to 500 feet already. visibility not too bad south of the golden gate bridge but we

are expecting the fog. current conditions, temperatures arranging from the low 50s where the fog is in tact. to 45 where it is clearer. we will see the fog over night. tomorrow dry. wednesday heavy rain expected for the morning. as well as gusty winds. we will time that out and look at your extended forecast for storms to impact the bay area. a heart breaking story. new tonight atnew tonight at 11:00 three members of a family drowned after being swept out to sea as they were trying to save their dog. authorities say mother, father and son were walking long the beach on saturday when their dog was hit by a strong wave while trying to retrieve a 16. the son went after the dog, prompting the father to go in as well. the teen got back to shore but went back in with his mother to

search for the father. they all got dragged into the ocean. a bystander called police but it was too late. >> we responded with cal fire, state and national parks, they arrived on scene and had trouble accessing the area because the sand is real soft. they got up to the area of the incident and covered one person fast. the second person was washed ashore and recovered. third person is still missing. >> the 16-year-old boy is the body that hasn't been found. he is presumed dead. the daughter and the boy's girlfriend witnessed everything from the beach. the dog eventually made it back to shore. a 14-year-old boy who was charged as an adult with attempted murder, sexual assault and the kidnapping of a

woman appeared in court today. he was scheduled to be arraigned but the hearing was postponed. he kidnapped a woman and forced her to drive several miles where he sexually assaulted and beat her before leaving her in a ditch. police have described this attack as random. san francisco sheriff's deputy accused of robbing a bank pleaded not guilty today. he was arraigned. he was released after posting $150,000 bail. investigators identified him as a suspect using surveillance video and after his finger prints were found on the demand note. coming up tonight, facebook speaks out about a hoax spread across the site, why you don't

here comes the heavy rain wednesday morning. you see rain over the north bay at 6:00. moderate rain along the coast line and san francisco at that hour. morning commute, this intensifies. you can see it continuing into the 9:00 a.m. hour. rain starting to taper off by 10:00 a.m. for the north bay. starting to get calmer into the early afternoon. seeing that much rain in such a short period of time lasts for several hours as you saw. up to 2-1/2 inches of rain in the higher elevations. otherwise a inch of rain. flash flood watch for the delta. wind advisory will be issued because winds get up to 60 miles per hour. especially near the coast lines. where they will be strongest. and this will be the first in a

series of systems. rain and wind wednesday morning. lull wednesday afternoon. thursday, friday, saturday, sunday, monday we will be dealing with a lot of wet weather over the next 7 days. the food and drug administration stopped operations at a new mexico peanut butter processor as it cracks down on salmonella poisoning. they found it at the plant after dozens of people in 20 states were sickened. the fda will prevent the company from distributing any food. they shut down operations under a food safety law. >> new consumer credit data shows more americans are falling behind on their auto loan payments. back to school shopping and other needs are putting a strain on wallets but the
